Cedar Point Communications' SAFARI C³ Named "Product of the Year" Finalist by MTC

Cedar Point Communications, the leader in integrated packet-based voice and multimedia switching technologies for the cable telecommunications industry, has announced that its SAFARI C³ Media Switching System has been named a finalist for the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council's "Product of the Year" award.

SAFARI C³ is one of four products under consideration in the voting by the MTC's membership. The winner will be announced March 31 at the awards ceremony at the Cambridge Hyatt. Bill Schleyer, chairman and CEO of Adelphia Communications, will be honored at the same event as Key Industry Player.

"As cable phone services are launched in Boston and throughout the country in the year ahead, operators will be seeking architectures that provide the simplest, most cost effective route to deployment," said Dave Spear, executive vice president, strategy and market development for Cedar Point Communications. "It is gratifying to see the recognition that SAFARI C³'s ability to provide high-quality, highly-reliable service via a single integrated chassis is receiving not only from the industry, but from the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council.

Cedar Point's SAFARI C³ is the only totally integrated carrier class VoIP switch that incorporates -- at no additional cost -- all of the components that make up the PacketCable™ voice switching infrastructure, eliminating the need for operators to purchase, maintain, upgrade and regression test separate Call Management Servers, Media Gateways, Record Keeping Servers, Announcement Servers, Signaling Gateways, Ethernet Switches and CALEA servers.

Designed to accommodate not only current voice switching needs but also the anticipated migration to video telephony and multimedia services, the PacketCable™-qualified SAFARI C³ provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for cable operators offering telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.
