Dean Cash

Chairman & CEO, ATEL Capital Group

Dean Cash is Chairman and CEO of ATEL Capital Group, a San Francisco based financial services company that sponsors public and private alternative investment programs for individual and institutional investors. ATEL’s programs provide investors an opportunity to participate in the dynamic $1 trillion US equipment leasing industry. In addition, Mr. Cash owns a controlling interest in Hawaiian Building Maintenance, the largest Honolulu based building services company with approximately 600 employees.

Mr. Cash earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and math and an MBA from Florida State University. He is a member of the Florida State University Foundation’s Board of Trustees and a supporter of the College of Business, where he established a professorship in the Department of Finance, as well as The Cash Lecture Hall in Legacy Hall, the new college of business building.

Mr. Cash began at ATEL Capital Group in 1981 as the director of marketing and, within two years, became its executive vice president and a director. In 2001, he purchased a majority interest in ATEL and became its Chairman and CEO. Under his leadership, ATEL has become a multi-billion dollar financial services company providing equipment leasing to Fortune 1000 U.S. corporations. Before joining ATEL, Mr. Cash began his career as a systems engineer with Electronic Data Systems (EDS). He later worked for General Electric Corporation, installing computerized patient records systems around North America and later sold computer services for GE’s GEISCO division.

Mr. Cash serves on the board of directors of the Gangagen Corporation, a biotech company researching new treatments for antibiotic-resistant MRSA bacteria (www.gangagen.com). He is also active within the nonprofit community of San Francisco, where he serves on the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Symphony. In the spring of 2015, Mr. Cash was inducted into the Florida State University College of Business Hall of Fame where he was recognized for his professional accomplishments and community contributions (Hall of Fame video).

He and his wife Eliza established the ATEL Foundation in 2012, a private philanthropic organization dedicated to providing funding to organizations that seek to better the lives of citizens in their respective communities.

Paritosh K. Choksi

Chief Operating Officer, ATEL Capital Group

Pari Choksi joined ATEL Capital Group as a Director, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Over the last decade, Mr. Choksi has been instrumental in the institutional fundraising and expanded ATEL’s global market. Mr. Choksi also oversees the Venture group as well as all aspects of Accounting, Finance, Information Technology and Human Resources for the company.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Choksi worked for Wink Communications Inc. as the Chief Financial Officer and had a 20-year tenure with Phoenix American Incorporated, where he held various positions including Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director.

Mr. Choksi holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, Mr. Choksi serves on the board of Syntel Inc., a leading IT outsourcing and consulting firm.

Vasco Morais

Vasco Morais serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and manages ATEL’s legal department. Mr. Morais and his team provide in-house legal support on the documentation of direct and leveraged lease transactions, venture leasing, managed programs, corporate finance, fund formation, capital markets and general corporate matters.

Prior to ATEL, Mr. Morais was employed by the B.A. Leasing & Capital Company, Bank of America’s equipment leasing subsidiary. Before that he was with the Consolidated Capital Companies in the Corporate and Securities Legal Department.

Mr. Morais holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a joint JD/MBA (Finance) degree from Golden Gate University. Mr. Morais is an active member of the State Bar of California and has served as Co-Chair of the California State Bar Association, Business Law Section, Uniform Commercial Code Committee. He has authored various publications and presented at speaking engagements on both the UCC and equipment finance. Mr. Morais is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and serves on the Boards of several non-profit organizations.

Ken Fosina

Ken Fosina is Executive Vice President of ATEL Leasing Corporation. Mr. Fosina is responsible for all sales, business development and capital markets activities for ALC. He also directs strategic marketing initiatives, operational execution and administrative functions within the department.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Fosina was in commercial finance for over 25 years, most recently as Managing Director of FFC Consulting for nine years.  At FFC he managed captive finance operations for large global equipment makers in the Semiconductor Manufacturing and Healthcare sectors. He also served as Lessee Advisor for several Fortune 100 clients, as well as managed the debt and equity capital raise for early stage companies.

Prior to FFC, he founded San Francisco based software company, LENDX that developed the industry's first electronic equipment finance marketplace and lessee portfolio management application. LENDX raised $50 million, grew to over 100 employees, changed its name to Determine Software, and was acquired by San Jose based procurement software maker, Selectica, Inc., which adopted the name (currently NASDQ: DTRM).  Prior to his start-up, Mr. Fosina was a decade sales producer for Mellon US Leasing in Silicon Valley, and five years in New York City for Capital Associates and Financing for Science International facilitating computer leasing and venture debt, respectively. Mr. Fosina holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond.

Steven Rea

President of ATEL Growth Capital

Steve Rea serves as President of ATEL Growth Capital (AGC). Mr. Rea is responsible for managing all sales and business development activities for AGC.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Rea managed the venture leasing department for the emerging growth divisions at Imperial Bank (now Comerica) and LINC Capital, Inc. Mr. Rea also worked as an account executive and later Vice President of Business Development at Interlease Group Ltd., a diversified financial services company specializing in financing for venture backed companies. Mr. Rea also has a background with Automatic Data Processing as a senior district sales manager.

Mr. Rea holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from San Diego State University as well as an MBA from St. Mary’s College.

Russ Wilder

Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer, ATEL Capital Group

Russell Wilder serves as Chief Credit Officer, ATEL Capital Group (ACG). Mr. Wilder is responsible for all credit analysis and financial investigation performed for ATEL's public and private fund transactions, and the ongoing due diligence review of the lessees or debtors.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Wilder specialized in personal property brokerage for equipment leasing/financing as well as outside credit and collections contracting. Mr. Wilder had numerous assignments at Westinghouse Credit, Wells Fargo Leasing and Fireside Thrift Co. He was awarded the Certified Lease Professional designation by the United Association of Equipment Leasers.

Mr. Wilder holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis.

Thomas Monroe

Thomas Monroe joined ATEL as a portfolio manager in the asset management department and currently serves as Senior Vice President, ATEL Equipment Services (AES). Mr. Monroe is responsible for ATEL's asset management department, including residual valuation, due diligence, equipment inspections and negotiating renewal and remarketing for ATEL's portfolio.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Monroe was employed by GE Capital for 6 years as a portfolio manager in the computer leasing division. Mr. Monroe was responsible for re-marketing off-lease DASD and magnetic tape storage equipment.

Mr. Monroe holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Samuel Schussler

Samuel Schussler serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, ATEL Capital Group (ACG). Mr. Schussler is responsible for financial reporting, interface with external auditors, SEC registrations, and for Sarbanes-Oxley risk analysis/ documentation and compliance.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Schussler served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Velocity Express Corporation. Prior to Velocity, Mr. Schussler was employed as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of New Century Packaging LLC. He was also employed as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Biogenex Laboratories.

Mr. Schussler received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Pace University as well as an M.B.A. in Finance from the New York University, Graduate School of Business Administration. He was granted licensure as a C.P.A. in New York and in Arizona.

James E. Ryan, CPA

James Ryan joined ATEL as Vice President, ATEL Capital Group and currently serves as Executive Vice President, ATEL Securities Corporation (ASC). Mr. Ryan is responsible for investor services, key account relationships, marketing and due diligence within the Independent Broker Dealer network.

Prior to joining ATEL, Mr. Ryan was the coordinating partner with Ernst &Young for projects with ATEL Capital Group. Mr. Ryan's experience and clients included GATX Capital, Grubb & Ellis, Legacy Partners, Marcus & Millichap, Sutro & Company, 3 Com, Vantage Point Venture Partners and Weiss, Peck & Greer. Mr. Ryan was an adjunct professor teaching federal corporate taxation for Golden Gate University's Masters in Tax program.

Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science from Santa Clara University, and an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University.

Mari Lynch, SPHR

Mari Lynch joined ATEL as HR Generalist, was promoted to HR Director, and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Ms. Lynch is responsible for recruiting and staffing, benefits administration, company policy and procedures, payroll administration, organizational development, employee relations, legal and SOX compliance, corporate training and development, event planning, compensation analysis and planning, and facility management.

Prior to joining ATEL, Ms. Lynch held positions in the retail industry at companies such as Staples Inc. and Big 5 Sporting Goods in the capacity of regional recruiter and in corporate training and development.

Ms. Lynch holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chapman University and currently maintains a Professional Human Resources certification.

Leesa J. Nichols

Executive Vice President, National Sales Manager, ATEL Securities Corporation

Leesa Nichols joined ATEL as Regional Vice President, ATEL Securities Corporation (ASC). Ms. Nichols currently serves as Executive Vice President/National Sales Manager, ATEL Securities Corporation. Ms. Nichols is responsible for the development and growth of the equity raising arm of the company through ASC, leading and developing the sales team, overseeing key accounts as well as marketing and business development within the Independent Broker-Dealer channel. 

 

Prior to joining ATEL, Ms. Nichols was Vice President and Regional Director for Steben & Company, Inc. Ms. Nichols was responsible for growing the distribution base in both the Broker-Dealer and the RIA channels.  She is a long-standing member of the Financial Planning Association. 

Ms. Nichols obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma and currently holds her FINRA Series license 3, 6, 22, 30, and 63.
